Renowned across the world of classical music, Chandranath Bhattacharya is a distinguished Sitar Maestro celebrated for his virtuosity and dedication to preserving the rich traditions of Indian classical music. His journey in sitar began under the tutelage of eminent masters, starting with Shri Gopi Mohan Bose, followed by Shri Shyamal Chatterjee, and culminating with the legendary Padmabhusan Pandit Debu Chowdhury of the Senia Jaipur Gharana. Upholding the sacred principles of ragas, Chandranath adheres to the traditional sitar style with seventeen frets and distinctive stroke patterns, a hallmark of the Senia Jaipur Gharana.
With a career spanning continents, Chandranath has captivated audiences across Asia and Europe with his mesmerizing performances. His artistry has graced the airwaves of All India Radio and television, where he has delivered 40 soul-stirring recitals, showcasing his mastery and depth of expression.
In addition to his illustrious performing career, Chandranath is deeply committed to nurturing the next generation of musical talents. Currently based in Singapore, he imparts his knowledge and expertise in sitar and Hindustani vocal to a diverse cohort of students, numbering over 80 from various nationalities. Prior to his tenure in Singapore, Chandranath has enriched the lives of over 100 students through his teaching endeavors in India, leaving an indelible mark on the cultural landscape.
