Maathavan Kalaichelvan is a distinguished Veena artist and an accomplished Carnatic musician with a deep-rooted passion for Indian classical arts. His musical journey began under the mentorship of Miruthangam Manuneethyvathy Muthusamy, where he honed his skills in both vocal and Veena. He further refined his craft under the guidance of eminent Gurus, including Guru Smt. Meenakshi Somasundaram at the Singapore Indian Fine Arts Society and Chennai, and Sri Chembai T.K. Arun Kumar at Nrityalaya Aesthetics Society.
In addition to his Veena expertise, Maathavan has pursued advanced training in Carnatic vocal under Guru Shri Sinnathamby Padmalingam and Guru Shri T.P. Nishanth at the Singapore Indian Fine Arts Society. His dedication to continuous learning has shaped him into a versatile artist who bridges tradition with innovation.
Beyond music, Maathavan is a committed social worker, holding a BSc in Psychology and an MA in Social Work. His multidisciplinary approach enriches his artistry, allowing him to connect with diverse audiences. He has performed across various genres and platforms, including theatre productions, multiethnic ensembles, and dance dramas, showcasing his adaptability and depth as a musician.
